Antipasti and primi from the Italian line, wines poured like any busy Saturday — with donations woven through the menu on Commercial Road.
Max Romano and the team built the night around what we do every service: Italian food from the pass, wines from the list, and a dining room a short walk from the Mayflower. March 2019 was a charity set menu for Francis Benali's Big Race — Cancer Research UK benefited while guests moved through courses the same way we still pace pre-theatre tables when the house is full.
Food first, then the cause
Charity nights only work if the plates convince people to return. That evening leaned on Italian structure — starters to share, primi with depth, dolci and espresso at the end — so supporters ate seriously before the speeches, not despite them.
